In late November 2013, we began sewing mittens as a fund raiser for a once in a lifetime charity bike ride the following year. We reached our goal of $10,000, and then rode 1800 kms home from Prince Rupert, BC with a custom carved totem pole, which you can now see at the Stollery Children's Hospital. The demand for these mittens and the amount of fun we had creating these little works of art moved us, literally, and after much deliberation, we created the jj wool company!
Since the beginning we have supported local youth initiatives. Currently, $10 from every pair of mittens sold will be donated to CASA, a provider of mental health services for infants, children, adolescents and their families.
